May 22, 2015
This Monday is Memorial Day. Please remind your child/children that this is a time to remember those that have helped to keep our country free. It is a non-attendance day. Please enjoy the day with your child/children.
Friday, May 29th , is our Awards Ceremony. Students in grades three through five will celebrate in the morning at a 9:00 a.m. program. Our first and second grade students program will be at 1:00 p.m. Kindergarten will receive their certificates at their celebration on June 9th.
Spring is supposed to be here, but the weather has not gotten the message. Even though, it is cooler than usual, we do take the students outdoors. Please be sure on these cool days that your child/children has a sweater or sweatshirt to wear.
Parents, now that the weather is getting warmer, please remember the dress code. Students need to wear shoes with backs, no flip-flops. On Spirit Days, students must wear a spirit shirt in order to wear jeans. No other shirt may be worn. (See pages 12 & 13 of the handbook)
A Form will be coming home with regards to next school year. We use this information to order books and to know the number of students that will be attending.
If you have a child that will be entering kindergarten and you DID NOT pick up a kindergarten packet, please come to the school or have your Costello student pick up a packet from the office. Health forms and information about kindergarten is in the packet. You will be able to avoid some of the lines at registration if you have these completed before June 12th.
I know that we are coming to the end of the school year, but it is important that your child/children attend school each and every day. You should not take out your child early unless it is a doctor’s appointment. Your child misses out on important learning when they are not in school.
Costello School 2014-2015
The 2014-15 school year was very exciting for Student Council at Costello School. In the fall, we held a food drive for the Lyons Food Pantry where we collected over 1,000 food items! We also sold candy cane reindeer during the holiday season. During the school year we collected Box Tops for Education and have collected over 2,500 box tops! Throughout the school year we also sold school supplies and maintained the pencil machine in the building.
We ended the school year with our annual Spirit Week where we had a special dress up day each day. On Friday we had our famous Dance Party in the gym!
All profits from the events are used for Costello Events, such as Accelerated Reader, P.E. supplies for recess, and prizes for box tops, etc. and donations to several charities.
